Anything that is a count belongs in the schedule with a quantity. Anything that is a guess belongs in conditions with a rate. There is no third category, and estimates get into trouble when a guess is written into the schedule to make the total look tidy.
Why price by device and circuit instead of by the job?
Because devices and circuits are what you actually install, and both you and the customer can count them. A number built from counts survives scrutiny; a lump sum invites the customer to negotiate against a figure whose components nobody can see.

Write the circuit line so it is not arguable later. “One 20-amp circuit, 12/2 copper, 46 feet, from panel to kitchen counter GFCI receptacle” is a line a second electrician could price against. “Add kitchen circuit” is not.

Feeders for a service change are usually aluminum rather than copper and sized differently, so name the conductor material as well as the gauge. When you are the sub on another trade’s job, price the circuit from the equipment nameplate rather than from a phone call — a mechanical contractor’s HVAC estimate should already name the breaker size its equipment requires.
How much does access change the price of the same outlet?

Time yourself on three of each before you set factors. Your own numbers will beat anyone’s rule of thumb, and access is precisely where a competitor’s low bid usually hides its future change order. Where do permit and inspection go on the estimate?
