Keel · Finance for a company of one
Know exactly what's yours — before you spend it.
Every invoice, receipt and mile lives on your iPhone — no account, no cloud, no bank link. Bill a client in under a minute, photograph a receipt and let Apple Intelligence read it, and see one honest number for what's actually yours after tax and bills.
The number no other app gives you
Freeboard — what's actually yours to spend.
Your bank balance is lying to you: it shows money you've already spent, and a third of it belongs to the IRS. Freeboard is your cash, minus a tax reserve at your rate, minus the bills you've committed to, minus a buffer you set. It updates the moment you invoice or log an expense — entirely on your iPhone.
What's inside
Everything a one-person business needs to run its money.
No dashboards to configure, no chart of accounts, no accountant login — and nothing readable ever leaves the phone.
New in v3 · Keel Pro
From your books to tax-ready, on the same phone.
v3 turns Keel from a ledger into a filing companion — reports, an accountant hand-off, and invoices that carry your brand. Every figure is derived on device from the same hash-chained ledger, so what your accountant sees is what your app shows.
Private by architecture
Your books never leave your iPhone.
Keel does no networking for its intelligence. Every invoice, expense and mile is stored locally in an append-only, hash-chained ledger you own — integer-exact money that stays consistent at tax time. There's no account to create and nothing readable to leak. The only things that touch the network are ones you choose: sending a finished invoice, or a purchase.
// integer-exact money · BLAKE3 hash-chained · on device event ReceiptStamped { merchant: "Blue Bottle Coffee", total_cents: 1875, // $18.75 — you approved this tax_cents: 156, prev_hash: "b3:9a7f…4736" // chained, tamper-evident } // nothing readable leaves the phone

Questions, answered
Everything you might ask before you download.
Does Keel need an account?
No. Keel has no account and no sign-in. Your books live on your iPhone in a private, append-only ledger; the App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected. Nothing readable leaves the phone.
What is Freeboard?
Freeboard is one honest number: your cash, minus a tax reserve, minus the bills you have committed to, minus a buffer you set — what is actually yours to spend or pay yourself. It is an estimate to plan with, not tax advice.
How does receipt scanning work?
Photograph a receipt and Apple Intelligence reads it on device — merchant, total, tax, date. Keel proposes the values; you review and stamp. The image never leaves your iPhone.
Can I really invoice in under a minute?
Yes. Pick a client, add a line, send a clean PDF — or just describe it in words ("invoice Acme $1,500 for a brand sprint") and Apple Intelligence drafts it on device for you to confirm. You can drop your own pay-me link on as a QR code.
Is my tax number accurate?
Freeboard uses the current-year self-employment and federal tables and the official IRS mileage rate to estimate a reserve. It is a planning estimate, not tax advice or a filing — confirm your numbers with a tax professional.
What does Keel Pro add?
Unlimited invoices and receipts, your logo and brand colour on the PDF, and custom invoice numbering. Everything still runs on device with no account. Free to start; Pro is a one-time $249.99 Lifetime purchase — no subscription.
Is Keel a good QuickBooks, Everlance or Keeper alternative?
If what you want is privacy and no bank connection, yes: Keel runs entirely on your iPhone with no account and no bank link, versus QuickBooks Solopreneur, Everlance and Keeper, which are all cloud-based and bank-connected. The honest tradeoff is that Keel does not auto-import transactions from a bank feed — entry is manual or by photographing a receipt — and Keel does not file your taxes for you.
