The three-step rude-message rewrite
- Replace blame with facts. “You forgot again” becomes “The file was due yesterday.”
- Replace commands with requests. “Send it now” becomes “Please send it by 2:00.”
- Replace judgment with next step. “This keeps happening” becomes “If 2:00 is not possible, send the blocker.”
The rewrite should still be direct. If the original message needed a deadline, keep the deadline. If it needed a consequence, keep the consequence.

Look for small words that carry irritation:

- “actually”

- “just”
